Our Eleventh Day

Thursday June 7, 2018

Good day my dears. Here’s a quick update about our day so we can go eat dinner and watch a movie:
Today we got to sleep in a little because some of the other teachers were going to be at the school at 7:30AM to meet the campers as they arrived. It was nice to be able to take our time in the morning. We arrived before the morning circle time, so we didn’t miss anything.

Our original plan was for all the kids to go to the pool today, but the school decided to divide the groups, so it wouldn’t be too crowded at the pool. So, the younger kids went to the pool today, and our team will go tomorrow. Having only half the kids made the day feel a lot calmer and we were able to have a lot more one-on-one time with them.

We took them to the playground again today, which they really seemed to enjoy. After that a lot of them were saying they were hungry, but it was a long time until lunch, so we made a quick decision to get ice-cream on the way back to the school – this was a HUGE hit! Back at school we played a true/false quiz game about sea life, and even Tim and I learned from some of the questions it asked.
Lunch went well, especially since we only had the older kids for the first half of the meal, so it was much quieter. The afternoon was pretty relaxing consisting of our traditional after-lunch meditation, a few more true/false questions, and another movie. Before we knew it, it was time for our closing circle time and goodbyes.

Tonight, we also substituted for another English-speaking class, which was very easy. The materials were already prepped for us so all we had to do was meet with the adult students and discuss the pre-determined topic. The conversation was very pleasant, especially since the ladies we were teaching were all fairly advanced with their English comprehension. We had a great time talking with them and the class just flew by!

We are home and showered now. Tim is trying to figure out how to use the washing machine, which has knobs that are all in Lithuanian, of course. I have faith he will be able to coax it into submission, though! After all, it’s just technology, and he has a gift for all things technical.

Hope everyone is doing well across the deep blue sea!

Lots of love from Lithuania! <3
